LUCIANO MOGNI- Musical Director
Our new MD, Luciano Mogni, was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He began his musical studies at the age of 10 when he enrolled at the 'Conservatorio Provincial Alberto Ginastera' to learn the saxophone.
During his time at the conservatory, he would join the student's orchestra, its saxophone choir and a film music orchestra conducted by a friend and fellow student.
All of these experiences during his formative years would later prompt him to study Orchestral Conducting at the 'Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina', where he also learned the piano and became interested in music composition and arranging.
During his mid-twenties he became interested in Celtic music which led him to join an Irish folk band and eventually travel to the UK to settle.
Throughout the years of study, he has learned several other instruments (e.g., singing, guitar, melodeon, etc...), sang in community choirs, studied chemical engineering, and learned accordion building and repair.
He currently lives in Newport where he lives with his wife. Luciano works as a singing and music teacher. He enjoys reading, playing board games and cooking.
